Another portrait in my 100 portraits in 300 days. Natalie has been a subject of a lot of my art and will be the subject of much more. She is easy to work with – for both the camera and the brush. These watercolor style portraits are digital and traditional using methods I have developed myself to both stand out as an artist and to create something unique for fans of my art and the clients I serve.

Kara has been a model for me on several occasions and soon we will be working together again. For the last decade I have spent thousands of hours painting. A lot of it for free, just learning every thing I could about my art. I will be following this post with a process of the painting as it went from the painted background to what it is now.
All I can say is I really enjoy painting people, it’s a passion. This one took longer than other paintings. Usually when I have a model for my photography or my painting, I end up painting several pieces of the model and many unfinished sketches.
Portrait Painting in California by Professional Portrait Artist Robert Wheater
This painting will be featured in a magazine and in a new painting book coming out in 2013. I can’t wait to share that with you.
Painting from a single photograph is not as easy as having some multiples to work with. This painting is still being worked on but is a great example of painting from a photograph. This is not a commission but rather practice with skin tones, hair and light from a model that worked with me earlier this year.
Nearly Finished Painting of Angela. I sometimes like to share incomplete work – you get to see how the paintings develop.
Commissioning a painting is simple. Take a look at the commission link to the right in the navigation links.
If you would like to commission a painting, I would love to hear from you. Email me at firstname.lastname@example.org with your request. I paint large and small portraits. I can paint portraits for movie sets based on actors in movies and I have a great turn around time.
